Where Sedgefield begins and ends
A residential neighborhood south and east of South End proper, generally between South Boulevard and Park Road, south of Dilworth.
Sedgefield is a longstanding residential neighborhood of ranch houses and Cape Cods on curving, tree-canopied streets, sitting just far enough from South Boulevard to feel removed from the district's commercial bustle while still being a short drive or bike ride away. It reads as a classic Charlotte streetcar-adjacent suburb rather than part of South End's redevelopment story.
Housing stock here has largely remained intact rather than being replaced with new construction, though teardown-and-rebuild activity has picked up in recent years as buyers seek larger homes on established lots close to Uptown and South End.
Sedgefield's draw is largely about lifestyle contrast: residents get quiet, low-traffic streets and yards, while still being close enough to walk, bike, or drive a few minutes to South End's restaurants and the light rail.
The neighborhood includes Sedgefield Park and is served by Sedgefield Elementary and Sedgefield Middle school buildings, though families should always verify current CMS assignment through the district's locator rather than assuming based on neighborhood name.
Housing stock
- Mid-century ranch and Cape Cod-style single-family homes

- Proximity to South Boulevard's commercial corridor
- Quick access to Dilworth and Park Road
Best for: Families and buyers wanting single-family housing within easy reach of South End and Uptown.
Walkability: Walkable within the neighborhood itself, but reaching South End's retail and transit generally requires a short bike ride or drive.
